Nasirabad in a city in Ajmer district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is a cantonment area that serves as a major base of Indian Army. There is a huge number of military personnel that are posted in the city. In ceremonial parades in Delhi, the Band of Grenadiers Regimental Centre is sent from here.
 

Geography of Nasirabad

With an average elevation of 429 meters or 1407 feet, Nasirabad is located at geographical coordinates of 26.3°N and 74.73°E. It is a region of sandy deserts with a lot of natural beauty around. Ajmer, Beawer and Kishangarh are the nearest surrounding cities. The town has a good rail and road connectivity with Delhi-Mumbai Golden Quadrilateral connecting it. There are frequent bus services here connecting the city to different other cities of Rajasthan and beyond. Kishangarh Airport in Ajmer is the nearest one from here, located at a distance of 25 KM.

History and Culture of Nasirabad

The town gets its name from the English officer Sir David Ochterlony, who was honored by Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II with the title of Nasir-ud-Daula, meaning 'Defender of the State'. Hindi is the local language spoken here. As per the census of 2011, city has a population of 50,804 of which 28,581 are males and 22,223 are females. Around 79% of the total population here is Hindus and 17% are Muslims. The city boasts about a high literacy rate of 88.39% which is much higher than the state average of 66.11%. The city is divided into 7 wards for which elections are held every 5 years.
